When that finish has dulled, scratched or lifted, I strip back to bare wood, fill the grain with pumice, and build up fresh shellac in thin layers using traditional pad application. Colour matching is part of the preparation, not an extra charge.

I cover South Green, Great Burstead, Little Burstead and the Queens Park area, working either on-site or collecting the piece for the workshop depending on what suits the room and the job. Humid conditions in wetter months can slow drying times, so I factor that into the schedule and agree the scope and timings with you in writing before starting.

Does French polishing remove scratches?
