How It Works
Is a water mark or heat mark always a sign the whole finish needs replacing?
No. Some marks only affect the surface finish and can be improved with a local repair. Deeper staining or heat damage may need more preparation, but that is established at the assessment stage before any work begins.
Can I use wax or a touch-up product myself while I wait?
That may hide the mark briefly, but it can also make matching harder later. The wrong product over French polish can leave the area looking patchy or shiny in a different way, which adds preparation time to the repair.
What happens if I leave the damage and do nothing?
A contained mark can deepen or spread if the finish around it is disturbed further. Addressing it while the damage is isolated is less disruptive and easier to blend than waiting until the affected area has grown.
Do you carry out repairs on-site or does the piece need to come to a workshop?
Both options are available. We can repair the piece in your home or collect it, carry out the work in the workshop, and return it. The right approach depends on the size of the piece and the nature of the damage.
