How It Works
Can a scratch or dent be repaired without replacing the whole piece?
Often yes. If the damage is localised, the marked area can be filled, levelled and blended into the surrounding finish so the repair is not visible. Replacing the piece is rarely necessary for a single area of damage.
What happens if worn or scratched wood is left without repair?
Scratches collect wax and dirt over time, making them more visible. Dull patches tend to spread as the finish around them wears unevenly. A repair carried out while the damage is still contained is simpler than addressing a wider area later.
What does the repair process involve?
The damaged area is inspected first to check the depth. Dents and gouges are filled and levelled, then the area is sealed and finished with shellac in staged coats, with colour matching throughout, until it sits flush with the surrounding surface.
Can you carry out repairs on-site, or does the piece need to come to a workshop?
Both options are available. We can work at your property for fitted woodwork or larger pieces, or collect a freestanding item, carry out the repair in the workshop, and return it once finished.
