How It Works
Can the finish be restored without stripping the piece completely?
Often, yes. Heat rings, dull patches and worn areas can frequently be addressed with a localised repair that leaves the surrounding patina untouched. Whether that is suitable depends on how widely the damage has spread across the surface.
How do I know if my piece needs a full refinish or just a touch-up?
If the damage is limited to a few marks or dull patches, a local repair is usually enough. If wear has spread across the whole surface and the finish looks uneven overall, a fuller refinish is likely needed to make the result look consistent.
Will the repaired area be visible once the work is done?
A good result blends as closely as possible with the rest of the piece. Colour matching is done at each stage of shellac application. Exact blending depends on the age, tone and condition of the existing finish, which is assessed before work begins.
What should I include when asking for a quote?
A photo of the full piece and close-ups of the damaged areas are the most useful starting point. Mention what the piece is, where the damage sits, and whether the problem is scratches, dullness, water marks or wear-through.
