How It Works
What happens if I leave the damage and wait?
Worn or exposed edges deteriorate faster once the finish breaks down. What starts as a small scratch or dull patch can draw damage into a wider area, making the eventual repair larger and harder to blend. Addressing it while the damage is contained keeps the work straightforward.
Is this the same as fully refinishing the whole piece?
Not always. Many jobs only need a localised repair on the damaged area. Full refinishing is only considered when wear is so widespread that a spot repair would not produce a consistent result across the surface.
What finishes can you repair?
French polish, shellac, lacquer, varnish and oil finishes are all within scope. The finish is identified by solvent test before any material is chosen, so the repair coat is always compatible with what is already on the surface.
Do you work on veneer surfaces and period furniture?
Yes. Veneer faces, oak tabletops, period furniture and architectural woodwork such as staircases and door frames are all covered. The grain direction and tonal variation are matched by eye at each coat rather than applied as a flat colour.
